IT Security Engineer

Posted 1 week ago is seeking an experienced IT Security Engineer to monitor and protect the company’s infrastructure and cloud-based IT systems.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Chief Information & Data Officer, the Principal IT Architect, and the Compliance team to ensure the cybersecurity of  The successful candidate will have experience in cybersecurity for both cloud-based and physical infrastructure IT systems.  In addition to cybersecurity, responsibilities include providing Tier 2 helpdesk support – especially for security related matters.


  • Serve as an IT Security Engineer and cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert
  • Help plan and implement the company’s cybersecurity strategy
  • Participate in incident response activities
  • Configure firewalls, VPNs, device encryption, and SIEM tools
  • Monitor cloud-based and physical infrastructure
  • Perform penetration testing and simulated attacks
  • Educate end-users on the good cybersecurity hygiene
  • Work with Principal IT Architect and Compliance team to ensure all applications and shared resources meet compliance requirements
  • Provide Tier 2 helpdesk support, as necessary
  • Run and review reports on the overall health and security of the IT ecosystem



  • At least 3 years of demonstrable experience working with at least three of the following:
    • Centrally managed endpoint security tools
    • SIEM tools
    • Pen testing
    • VLAN, Firewall, and VPN configuration
    • System administration experience across Windows 10, MacOS, and M365
    • Incident response handling
    • Threat assessment tools
  • Disciplined self-starter who can successfully bring projects and tasks to closure with a minimum of direction, guidance, and oversight
  • Team player with the ability to interact and communicate with clients and peers in a positive, collaborative, and constructive manner
  • Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to acquire a US Government security clearance and work with data enclaves that contain export-controlled CUI


  • Experience with M365 tools such as Sentinel and Security & Compliance Center
  • Certified Ethical Hacker, CISSP, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer, Security+, or other cloud certifications
  • Experience with container management
  • Software development experience
  • An active USG security clearance

Location of Positions: McLean, VA or Columbia, MD or Remote potential option

Travel Required (CONUS/OCONUS): CONUS

If Travel is required, how much? 15% potential, mostly in the metro DC area
