IT Application Engineer

Posted 1 week ago is seeking an experienced IT Application Engineer specializing in using and developing knowledge management and collaboration tools in a Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

The successful candidate will help evaluate, install, develop, and/or build applications & workflows for, a growing company specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.  This candidate will have the opportunity to work with the Chief Information & Data Officer and the Principal IT Architect to improve the efficiency of multiple organizations within, to define processes and procedures, and to evaluate and develop cloud-based tools and applications.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience with tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, Teams, SharePoint, PowerBi, and Power Apps.  Additional responsibilities include training end-users in deployed applications and workflows, mentoring junior IT staff in the use of automation and collaboration tools, and providing Tier 2/3 support – especially for deployed applications.


  • Serve as the lead IT Application Engineer and Subject Matter Expert for M365 automation, knowledge management, and collaboration tools
  • Investigate, deploy, and manage third-party workflow applications
  • Develop, deploy, and manage custom workflow applications
  • Configure SharePoint, integrate applications, and create libraries
  • Build knowledge management portals for organizations
  • Work with Principal IT Architect and Compliance team to ensure all applications and shared resources meet compliance requirements
  • Provide support and end-user training
  • Create dashboards for monitoring applications and systems
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support, as necessary, for helpdesk activities
  • Run and review reports on the overall health and security of the IT ecosystem



  • At least 5 years of experience in IT, engineering, and/or computer science
  • At least 3 years of experience with at least three of the following:
    • SharePoint administration
    • Teams app development
    • Microsoft Flow / Power Automate
    • Power Apps
    • PowerBI
    • Graph API
    • Azure Automation
    • Power Virtual Agents
  • Experience working configuring and managing M365, in general, and collaboration tools in M365, in particular
  • Disciplined self-starter who can successfully bring projects and tasks to closure with a minimum of direction, guidance, and oversight
  • Team player with the ability to interact and communicate with clients and peers in a positive, collaborative, and constructive manner
  • Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to acquire a US Government security clearance and manage data enclaves that contain export-controlled CUI


  • Cloud SME certifications and demonstrable solution architect experience (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with RPA tools
  • Experience with container management
  • Experience with web front-end/UI development
  • Experience with full-stack development
  • An active USG security clearance

Location of Positions: McLean, VA or Columbia, MD (Potential for remote option)
Travel Required (CONUS/OCONUS): CONUS
